The Rose Main Reading Room is basically a second home for Max Touhey. Renovation? Gala? Press shoot? The New York Public Library knows it can always count on him. At one point, he even set up a temporary residency, time-lapsing the return of the books after a renovation for an entire week, and he’s photographed every nook and cranny for the library’s archives.
Max has a way of capturing the Rose that shows both its grandeur and its little details — the corners most visitors never notice. And even when he’s not behind the camera, it’s still one of the best spots in the city to get happily lost in a book.
